Fresh identity for Wild Edge Rescue – responding, rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife from the wild edge.
Wild Edge Rescue exists to respond, rescue and rehabilitate animals that are in danger or distress. Based in the Western Cape region of South Africa, here the urban edge is infringing further and further into the wilderness, meaning that Wild Edge Rescue is needed more than ever.
After 16 years experience of helping animals, founder conservationist Jon Monsoon set up the organisation to respond, rescue and rehabilitate animals that are in danger or distress within the region. Whilst there are a lot of individual efforts – as well as underfunded local authority departments – to help wildlife, there is a desperate need for a leading organisation to unite efforts and create a strong, coordinated movement.
Caring characters
The identity is made up of two porcupine like shapes drawn in a way to represent a ‘W’ and an ‘E’. They fit together, reflecting the idea of a collective and community effort to conserve wildlife on the urban edge. Porcupines are a familiar sight in the region and are (sadly) a widely persecuted species. Despite the pressures these animals face, they are seen as resilient and intelligent creatures – the perfect symbol for Wild Edge Rescue.
A race against time
All too often, Wild Edge are contacted too late to save an animal, due to time wasted by people trying to find out who to contact about the emergency. Wild Edge respond to as many emergencies as they can and plan to grow to address the growing pressures facing animals in the region. The new logo will help with this growth as well as building recognition and awareness – ensuring they are the first point of contact and therefore enabling them to help and save more wildlife.
